About date and time stamps

When someone signs a Signature Box field or selects an answer in a Question field in a form, Damstra Forms keeps a record of the date and time when that action was performed. If needed, you can then reference the date and time of that action in a Formula field, so that these details are visible in the form. This is useful if you need to capture the exact date and time that someone signed a form or answered a question.

Template configuration

The only template configuration required is to add one or more Formula fields to extract the date and time details from the relevant field(s).

When referencing a Signature Box or Question field in a Formula field, you'll notice some hint text below the formula details that shows you can reference the date and time simply by adding .date or .time to the field reference.



Date and time are two separate properties, so if you want both to be visible then you'll need to use two separate formula fields or combine those details into a single formula as shown in this example.

As with all Formula fields, you can choose whether to show or hide the field to the people who use the form.

What it looks like to form users

For anyone using your form, there is no difference to what they do when signing a Signature Box field or answering a Question field.

The only difference that will be noticeable to a form user is that they will see the Formula fields containing the timestamps if you have configured those Formula fields to be visible.

Timezones for date and time stamps

Dates and time stamps are:

• shown in the form in the timezone of the device used to the form (e.g. 2023-06-13 15:36:00)
  
  
  
  
• saved in the form's data in UTC time (e.g. 2023-06-13T15:36:54+10:00).
