1. Prequalification process
Company prequalification is the foundational process of vetting contractor companies before they can be engaged on worksites. This process collects and verifies critical company documents, certifications, and safety information up front to ensure each contractor meets all client and regulatory requirements prior to any work.
If a contractor company fails to prequalify, it cannot proceed to mobilise workers.
Contractor company prequalification is a key component of Supply Chain Risk Management. It enables a worksite to assess and manage the risk associated with engaging contracting companies, based on organisational requirements.
The prequalification process begins when an organisation invites a contracting company to participate. The contracting company is required to submit specified requirements, which is then reviewed and verified by the organisation for compliance.
Once all requirements have been verified as compliant, the contracting company is approved and permitted to onboard workers to the worksite.
This process allows the organisation to effectively monitor contractor compliance and manage risk. Contracting companies that do not maintain compliance can have their ability to onboard workers restricted.
Contractor company prequalification can be completed at:
- Organisation level – once approved, a contracting company may onboard workers at any worksite within the organisation; or
- Worksite level – the contracting company must be approved for a specific worksite before onboarding workers to that location.
The workflow below outlines the step-by-step process companies must follow to complete prequalification, from the invitation and completing payment, questionnaire, and documents through to approval.
To complete the prequalification process:
- Receive the worksite invitation.
- Complete the payment process.
- Fill in the required questionnaire.
- Upload all necessary documents and certifications.
- Submit for approval.
- Await verification and approval from the client.
Existing contractors are not required to complete the new prequalification process until their current prequalification expires. Prior to expiry, contractors will receive an invitation to complete the new prequalification, allowing sufficient time to complete the requirements without impacting mobilisation or site access.
