1.3. Dimensions and installation layout
If you are adding a WM4 Alcolizer, please refer to DT – MK2P GPO Mounting Location for further instructions.
1.4. Electrical/environmental and connectivity requirements
A suitable location for installing the terminal must meet the following conditions:
Be protected from the weather (no direct exposure to rain, wind, or sunlight)
Provide enough wall space to mount all required units
Ensure sufficient 3G mobile signal where required
Be easily accessible for the workforce to locate and use the system
If the ambient temperature exceeds 50°C, alternative installation locations must be considered to avoid overheating or component failure.
Warranty conditions
Failure to mount the unit out of direct sunlight or in a weather-exposed area will void all maintenance warranties. Any repairs required due to non-compliant installations will be charged back to the customer.
1.5. Mounting surface requirements
The terminal can be mounted to most surface types, including solid and hollow walls.
For hollow walls, weight and usage must be considered. Use appropriate mounting components such as UniStrut or similar systems to ensure a safe and secure installation.
For solid wall types (e.g. metal, brick), the unit may be mounted directly using suitable anchors or bolts.
1.6. Mounting height recommendation
The top of the terminal should be mounted at 160 cm – 170 cm from ground level.
This range provides optimal usability and comfort for most users.
This is a guideline and may be adjusted based on site-specific requirements.
1.7. Mounting the terminal
The terminal attaches to the wall using 4 anchor points located in each corner of the unit.
Anchor holes must be drilled exactly as shown in Figure 3.
Do not drill additional holes anywhere else on the enclosure.
Non-compliance will incur additional charges upon return of the unit.
1.8. Conduit and cable entry
All conduit and cable holes must be drilled only from the underside of the rear of the enclosure.
This includes:
Power cabling
Data cabling
Alcolizer cabling (if applicable)
Ensure that cables/conduits do not obstruct the printer drawer.
A 35 mm gap is provided at the rear of the drawer for this purpose (see Figure 4).
1.9. Final steps
Mount the unit securely using appropriate screws/bolts.
Tighten all fixtures and ensure the unit is stable and securely fixed to the surface or mounting equipment.
1.10 Clearance requirements
If additional devices (e.g. Alcolizer) are installed nearby, ensure sufficient clearance is available.
The terminal door must have adequate space to fully open and operate without obstruction.
1.11. Reminders
Use the keys provided to open the cabinet.
Always lock the cabinet again once installation is complete.
Check all internal plugs inside the cabinet to ensure they are receiving power.
Once power is turned on, the system will boot automatically.
The terminal will be ready to use within a few minutes.
2. DT-MK2P

2.1. Device overview
| Device Type | Power Requirements | Data Connection |
|---|---|---|
| DT–MK2P | Refer to GPO Mounting Location | Ethernet / Wi-Fi / 4G |
2.2. GPO mounting location

Figure 3a. Alcolizer positioning and distance between the terminal
2.3. Electrical and alcolizer communication cable location
Due to site-specific variations, the following general guidelines should be followed for cable entry and communication setup:
Electrical Cabling should be routed through the left-hand side of the cabinet base (see Red Circle in MK2_11.jpg).
Alcolizer Serial (COM) Cable should be routed through the right-hand side of the cabinet base (see Green Circle in MK2_11.jpg).
After drilling the required cable entry holes, install appropriate cable glands to prevent vermin or dust from entering the terminal enclosure.
2.4. Installation practices
Do NOT cut or splice the COM (serial) cable unless absolutely necessary.
If splicing must be done:
It must be carried out professionally.
All joins must be soldered and thoroughly tested.
Use only the Yellow, Blue, and Red wires when performing a splice.
2.5. Communication cable specification
This is not a standard serial cable. A RS232 Null Modem COM Cable is required.
The Ideagen Terminal and the WM4 Alcolizer will not communicate without this specific cable type.
Figure 3b. Electrical and Alcolizer Cable Holes
2.6. Electrical/environmental and connectivity requirements
To ensure optimal performance and long-term reliability, the installation location for the terminal must meet the following criteria:
Be fully sheltered from weather conditions (rain, wind, and direct sunlight)
Provide sufficient wall space to mount all required units
Offer adequate 3G mobile signal (if mobile connectivity is required)
Be easily accessible for the workforce to locate and interact with the system
If ambient air temperature exceeds 50°C, an alternate, cooler installation location must be selected.
Warranty warning
Failure to mount the terminal in a protected, weather-free environment will void all maintenance warranties. Any damage resulting from non-compliant installation will be charged back to the customer.
2.7. Mounting surface requirements
The terminal can be mounted to most wall types, including:
Hollow walls (using appropriate support such as UniStrut or equivalent)
Solid walls (brick, metal, etc.) using suitable anchors or bolts
Ensure the mounting method is safe, stable, and suited to the surface material and terminal weight.
2.8. Mounting height recommendation
The recommended mounting height is with the top of the terminal at 160–170 cm from ground level.
This range ensures ease of use for personnel of varying heights.
This is a guideline only and can be adjusted as required by the site.
2.9. Mounting the terminal
The terminal attaches via 4 anchor points, one in each corner.
Holes for these anchor points must be drilled only as per Figure 3.
Do not drill any additional holes elsewhere on the unit. Non-compliance will result in additional charges upon equipment return.
2.10. Cable entry and management
Conduit entry (Figure 3b – Electrical and Alcolizer Cable Holes)
All conduit holes must be drilled only from the underside of the cabinet at the rear.
This applies to:
Power cabling
Data cabling
Alcolizer cabling (if applicable)
Ensure that cables or conduits do not interfere with the printer drawer. A 35 mm clearance is provided at the rear of the drawer to accommodate cables (see Figure 4).
Electrical and alcolizer COM cable placement
Electrical cabling should enter from the left-hand side of the cabinet base (Red Circle – see Figure 3b).
Alcolizer RS232 COM cable should enter from the right-hand side (Green Circle – see Figure 3b).
Use appropriate cable glands to seal holes and prevent vermin entry.
2.11. Alcolizer communication cable
This is not a standard serial cable.
A RS232 Null Modem COM Cable must be used.Without this specific cable, the Damstra Terminal and WM4 Alcolizer will not communicate.
Splicing is not recommended, but if absolutely necessary:
Must be performed by a professional
All joins must be soldered and tested
Only the Yellow, Blue, and Red wires should be used
2.12. Clearance requirements
Ensure sufficient clearance around the terminal and any other devices (e.g. Alcolizer)
The terminal door must be able to fully open without obstruction
2.13. Reminders
Use the provided keys to open the cabinet.
Always lock the cabinet once installation is complete.Ensure all internal plugs inside the cabinet are properly connected and have power.
Once power is turned on, the system will automatically boot up.
The terminal will be ready to use within a few minutes.
