Managing Event subjects in Ideagen Safety
In Ideagen Safety, Events are given an Event Type of either Injury, Illness, Incident, or Near Miss, as well as a Subject, which describes the immediate cause or trigger of the Event.
For example:
An Event of type Injury may have a Subject of being hit by moving obstacles or falls from a height.
By default, the Event Subject is a free-text field, but it can be configured as a drop-down list.
This guide shows how to:
Configure the field as a drop-down selection.
Define the selectable subjects contained within.
⚙ Settings
Begin in Settings, found under the profile icon toward the top of the screen.
Within the General section:
Click Options and Preferences.
✅ Enabling Incident Subject
Tick the Incident Subject checkbox to enable selection via a drop-down list, noting:
Any existing free-text data in the Subject field of existing Event records will remain and still appear in reports.
Once an Event is edited, the free-text data in the Subject field will be hidden, and the user must select from the drop-down list before saving.
It’s recommended to communicate this change to users before applying it to an existing system.
➕ Add Event Subject
To populate the drop-down lists:
Return to Vault Settings.
Expand the Events section.
Click Event Subject.
In the Event Type field, select an event type to populate the Subject field with existing subjects for that type.
To add a new subject:
Click the ➕ icon.
Type the new item.
Click Save.
✏️ Edit / 🗑 Delete Event Subjects
To update or remove an existing Subject:
Select the item from the list.
Click the appropriate icon (edit or delete).
Once defined, Event Subjects can be selected when working with new and existing records in the Events Register.
