Create and manage a new skills matrix
This guide walks users through the three-step process of creating and customizing a new skills matrix using the Workforce Management platform.
Step 1: Matrix data
Use this section to define the scope of your matrix by selecting employees, skills, and filters.
Employees
- Choose real-time employee options or manually select individuals for specific worksites.
- Additional setting: Exclude employees who do not have any of the selected skills.
Skills
- Include or exclude specific skills.
- Use a saved skills list from the drop-down menu.
- Manage your list: View change history or delete saved skills.
- Search by skill group or manually enter skill names.
- Additional settings:
- Show skills with skill codes.
- Exclude specific skill levels.
- Include skills for specific job titles.
- Hide skill columns if none of the selected employees have that skill.
Next button: Click next to proceed to the matrix display configuration.
Step 2: Matrix display
Customize how the matrix appears by adjusting columns, skill information, and visual themes.
Order skills
- Drag and drop skill columns to reorder them according to preference.
Columns & skill information
Include or exclude columns based on worksite preferences:
- Crew name
- Department
- Latest medical test expiry
- Date of Birth
- Last date on site
- Company
- Start date with company
- Job titles
- Last negative drug test date
- Last negative alcohol test date
Skill display options
Display skills as:
- Icon, expiry date, and skill level
- Icon only
Additional settings
- Include start date for all skills
- Show only expired skills or those expiring in the next 90 days
- Abbreviate skill level
- Show time frame until expiry for skills expiring in the next 90 days
Skills colours & preview
- Choose a default colour theme from the drop-down.
- Manage themes:
- View all saved themes
- View default theme
- See number of matrixes using the theme
- View change history
- Delete theme
- Create and save a new custom colour theme.
- Colour-code each skill based on preferences.
View Matrix button: Click View matrix to proceed to the final review step.
Step 3: View matrix
Review the completed skills matrix before saving.
- All newly created matrices are accessible via the Saved Matrixes tab.
- Click the Save matrix button to finalize and store the matrix.
Tips
- Use saved skills lists and themes to speed up future matrix creation.
- Apply filters to focus on relevant data for specific worksites or job titles.
