Linking a Dashboard in IWS
Summary:
Learn how to link a visual from one dashboard to another in Damstra Insights. This feature helps you quickly access related dashboards and optionally pass filters between them for consistent data analysis.
Steps:
Step 1: Open the dashboard you want to link from.
Step 2: Click the Dashboard Links icon on the dashboard icon bar.
Example: Click the Chain icon to open the Dashboard Links dialog.
Step 3: In the Dashboard Links dialog, click Add Link.
The Select Link dialog opens.
Step 4: Choose the visual and target dashboard you want to link, then click Apply.
The Dashboard Link dialog displays the selected visual and dashboard link.
Step 5: Configure filter inheritance:
- By default, Inherit Visual Filter is enabled.
- To disable filter inheritance, toggle off the option.
Filters are only passed if both dashboards use the same data source configuration.
Step 6: Close the dialog.
Step 7: Save the dashboard to apply the link settings.
Step 8: Use the new link:
Go to "<dashboard>"
- On the visual’s drop-down menu, select Go to "" to navigate to the linked dashboard.
- Alternatively, click LINK from the dashboard context menu.
To delete a dashboard link:
Step 1: Open the dashboard containing the visual you want to unlink.
Step 2: Click the Dashboard Links icon on the dashboard icon bar.
The Dashboard Links dialog appears.
Step 3: In the dialog, select the visual and click the Remove icon.
The link is removed.
Step 4: Save the dashboard to confirm the changes.
You must remove all links to a dashboard before you can delete that dashboard.
Tips:
- Ensure you have permission to share and link dashboards before creating links.
- Use filter inheritance to maintain context when navigating between dashboards.
- Save your dashboard after linking or unlinking to preserve changes.
