Field Types - Dates, times and numbers
Purpose
This article explains how to add and configure date, time, and number fields in Damstra Forms to capture structured input from users.
Overview
You can add Date, Time, and Number fields to your form templates using the Template Editor. These fields help collect accurate and standardized data.
To add a field:
- Double-click the field type in the left panel, or
- Drag and drop the field onto your template.
Field types and settings
Date field
Use the Date field to let users select a date from a calendar picker.
To configure:
- Click the cogwheel icon on the field.
- Set the field as mandatory or optional.
Time field
Use the Time field to let users select a time in hours and minutes.
To configure:
- Click the cogwheel icon on the field.
- Set the field as mandatory or optional.
- Use the Time Interval setting to restrict selection to:
- 5-minute intervals
- 15-minute intervals
Example: For timesheet entries, you might restrict selection to 15-minute increments to simplify logging.
Number field
Use the Number field to collect numeric input.
- This field accepts:
- Digits
- Decimal points
- Minus signs
- You can set the field as mandatory or optional.
