Saving a dashboard in Insights IWS
Summary:
Learn how to save a new or edited dashboard in Damstra Insights. Saving preserves your visuals, snippets, and layout. You can also choose to save changes to shared visuals or rename the dashboard during the process.
Steps:
Step 1: Open the dashboard you want to save.
Step 2: Click the Save icon on the dashboard icon bar.
To make a copy of the dashboard, use the Save As icon instead.
Step 3: In the Save Options dialog, enter a title in the Name field.
- This is the name under which the dashboard will be saved.
- To rename the dashboard, change the name here.

Step 4: Optionally, enter a description in the Description field (up to 750 characters).
Leading and trailing spaces are not allowed.
Step 5: If the dashboard contains shared Visual Gallery visuals with unsaved changes, review them in the Existing Visuals tab.
- Check the box to save changes to those visuals.
- Leave the box unchecked to discard changes.
Saving shared visuals will update them across all dashboards where they are used.
Step 6: Click Save to save the dashboard, or Cancel to exit without saving.
What gets saved automatically:
- Local visuals
- Rich text snippets
- Filter snippets
- Repositioned shared visuals (if no unsaved data changes)
Insights saves the last time bar field used, including its range and playback configuration.
Tips:
- You must have Creator access to save dashboards.
- You can only save visuals if you have Write permission for them.
- Always review unsaved changes to shared visuals before saving.
