Field Types - Geolocation controls
Purpose
Use the Geolocation control in a form template to allow users to record their current location, including coordinates, date, time, and accuracy. This feature is especially useful for location-based reporting, fieldwork, or compliance tracking.
What it does
When users fill out a form with a Geolocation control, the system captures their current coordinates using their device’s GPS or other location services. It also records:
- Latitude and longitude (in decimal degrees or degrees/minutes/seconds)
- Location accuracy
- Capture time and date
Administrators can access this data in:
- Form PDFs
- Exported reports
How to add a Geolocation control
In the Template Editor
- Open the form template in the Template Editor.
- Drag and drop the Geolocation control into the desired section of the form.
- Save the template.
When completing a form
- Users will see the Geolocation control and can tap it to capture their current location.
- The system automatically fills in the coordinates and timestamp.
